Working in the Community

Update:  After removing two truck loads of ivy, black berry and laurel foliage from the hedgerow at the MyChosen Cafe, we found there were a lot of invasive plants left so we are returning on 13May2024 to finish the job.  We have to dig out the roots to make sure that they just don’t grow back again!

On 06May24, members of the Moralea’s Meadow volunteer team will be removing invasive plants at the MyChosen Cafe located at 4492 Happy Valley Road in Metchosin, BC.  The Cafe is a popular dining spot for many people in the Westshore and elsewhere.  Our group will be working on a day the Cafe is closed to remove ivy and other invasive plants from the fence between the parking lot and Happy Valley Road.   The plant material will be taken to the nearby Fire Hall for disposal.  In exchange for our work, the Cafe owners will be making a donation to the Moralea’s Meadow fund that is administered through the Metchosin Foundation on our behalf.   We are grateful to MyChosen Cafe for their support.
