Ferns Coming Back to Life

Licorice Ferns emerging in August

After a long hot summer, our Licorice ferns are coming back to life.  On August 20, 2024, we began to see the first new shoots emerging from what appeared to be lifeless litter.  These ferns were rescued from Centre Mountain and planted in the hollowed out logs which line the path through the Meadow.  They were nurtured with hand watering but, as in normal with these ferns, they died back over the summer.  With the rains we received in August and cooler weather, they are making a comeback.  Spring is usually the season of new growth, in this case, fall is the season of renewal.  We look forward to watching the progress of these ferns as they continue to grow.
